INJECTION MOULDING MACHINES

An injection moulding machine, also known as an injection press, is a machine for manufacturing plastic products by the injection moulding process. It consists of two main parts, an injection unit and a clamping unit. Injection moulding machine moulds can be fastened in either a horizontal or vertical position. Most machines are horizontally oriented, but vertical machines are used in some niche applications such as insert moulding, allowing the machine to take advantage of gravity. Some vertical machines also do not require the mould to be fastened. There are many ways to fasten the tools to the platens, the most common are manual clamps; however, hydraulic clamps and magnetic clamps are also used. The magnetic and hydraulic clamps are used where fast tool changes are required.

COOLING TOWER FOR MOULDING MACHINES

A cooling tower is a specialized heat exchanger in which air and water are brought into direct contact with each other in order to reduce the water’s temperature. As this occurs, a small volume of water is evaporated, reducing the temperature of the water being circulated through the tower. Water, which has been heated by an industrial process or in an air-conditioning condenser, is pumped to the cooling tower through pipes. The water sprays through nozzles onto banks of material called “fill,” which slows the flow of water through the cooling tower, and exposes as much water surface area as possible for maximum air-water contact. As the water flows through the cooling tower, it is exposed to air, which is being pulled through the tower by the electric motor-driven fan.

DIES AND MOULDS

Molds and dies are tools that are essential to mass production in present-day manufacturing. Both are key elements in manufacturing―for example, molds are used in injection molding to shape resin as well as in casting, and dies are used in stamping. Today’s techniques are able to create micron-order precision molds and dies, contributing to the mass production of products with the same shape and quality in a wide range of areas. Dies and molds are both tools for shaping. Dies are used to shape sheet metal and other metal forms. A typical application is the making of automobile body parts. On the other hand, molds are used in injection molding such as with melted resin or casting molten metal.

INJECTION MOULDING MACHINE PARTS

An injection molding machine is comprised of four main components: the base, the hopper, the barrel, and the clamping unit. There are also smaller components such as the nozzle, ejector pins, split mold, clamping unit, injection unit and hydraulic unit. The base holds all the other parts and the electronics needed to run the machine. The electronics on the device have to control a range of heaters, hydraulics, sensors, and injection pressure.
